A Tiny Ink Drawing

Sep 29
1 min read

A tiny ink drawing of the pier, the sea and a dolphin at Roker Beach, carefully torn into the shape of a heart.

Written across it were the words:

“A little doodle in the morning to bring you joy.”

Someone had lovingly tucked it onto a little piece of art made from an old tree stump, beach stones and strands of seaweed. It was so small and unassuming that you had to get close to even notice it was there.

And I think that made it even more beautiful.

As I sat on the beach with the sun on my face and the sound of the sea in front of me, I kept thinking about the person who had left it.

They didn’t know who would find it.

They didn’t need thanking.

They weren’t waiting for recognition.

They simply created something and left it there in the hope that it might make a stranger smile.

And it did.

It warmed my heart.

A tiny reminder that kindness doesn’t always have to be grand or complicated. Sometimes it’s just a little doodle, a scrap of paper and a few words left behind for somebody you’ll probably never meet.

What a lovely little bit of humanity to find on a beach. 🏖️
