Noone Prepares You for a Midlife Body

Maybe the problem isn't that your body changed.

Maybe it's that nobody prepared you for the grief of it.

The grief of looking in the mirror and seeing someone unfamiliar.

The grief of needing more rest.

The grief of not being able to push through the way you used to.

The grief of realising your body has been changing while you've been busy taking care of everyone else.

And lovely...

Grief doesn't mean you're vain.

It doesn't mean you're ungrateful.

It doesn't mean you're failing to embrace ageing.

It means something changed.

And change—even natural change—can still hurt.

So if you're struggling to make peace with your menopausal body right now, be gentle with yourself.

You are not grieving because your body is wrong.

You are grieving because it is different.

And different takes time.

Your body is still yours.

Still carrying you.

Still fighting for you.

Still worthy of kindness.

Especially from you.
